The 1999 Nuclear Free Future Education Award Goes to: Lydia Popova

Lydia Popova was a researcher at Russia's Ministry of Atomic Power (MINATOM) before, at great personal risk, she turned whistle-blower. Today, Lydia Popova is the director of the Center for Nuclear Ecology and Energy Policy of the Socio-Ecological Union, a federation of some 250 grassroots environmental organizations from across Russia. She helped build a solid and important bridge to the American anti-nuke movement.
