Dear Organizers of the Nuclear-Free Future Award:
I wish to thank you again for honoring me with this Award in 2003. It was good to see you at the Awards ceremony in San Francisco in December.
The Nuclear-Free Future Award has greatly benefited my work in helping me promote my message of a nuclear-free future here on this Mother Earth. Many people were glad that I had received this Award and commented that I certainly deserved it after many years of working to educate the people about the dangers of nuclear energy not only on Shoshone land in Nevada but across the world.
I used the prize money to purchase a new car! I have been traveling for many years in old, unreliable vehicles and have broken down many times! Now I have a new car I can travel in comfort and with peace of mind in. Most of my time is spent traveling across the country talking in schools, universities, Native American gatherings and festivals where I educate people as to what is happening with the Nevada Test Site and Yucca Mountain and how these are situated on Shoshone land. The new car is a great aid!
I think the Nuclear-Free Future Award is very important in the worldwide peace and anti-nuclear movement because it spreads awareness amongst an even larger audience of people about the important work some people are working towards in the native communities. Now I hope many more people across the world are aware of nuclear power and the devastation it has caused on Shoshone land here in Nevada. This Award has now educated other communities across the Mother Earth about Yucca Mountain and how we should not be burying the nuclear waste in a sacred mountain. I hope people will wake up to the dangers of nuclear energy and put their thoughts together to say no to nuclear power.
